The Kinivo BTH240 doesn’t look like your typical Bluetooth headset. Rather than being a small in-ear headset, it offers the sound power of larger on-ear headphones. Having said that, the first thing we notice when we unbox the Kinivo BTH240 is their lightweight and rather small size to be on-ear headphones. The Kinivo BTH240 sits behind your head, rather than on it, and does so comfortably.
The Kinivo BTH240 is designed to be very foldable, and indeed – it’s a breeze to fold them up and they don’t take up much space at all. In combination with the Bluetooth and lightweight, it makes them perfect to bring along wherever you go. For example around the house, to the gym or if you’re going out of town for the weekend.
As for build quality, the Kinivo BTH240 doesn’t stand out. It feels nice to hold, but there are plenty of headphones with more solid build quality then these in the higher price ranges (see our Best Bluetooth Headset Guide for more Bluetooth headset reviews). But within its price range (around $30) you could not expect much more.
The Kinivo BTH240 offers some really nice sound quality. Although it can’t match the perfect sound that audiophiles seek (see for example the Best Headphones Under 200 Dollars), we’re still impressed in comparison with other headsets in the same price range. The sound is surprisingly clear and crisp, and the bass range is great.
However, the Kinivo BTH240 does leak some sound, which may irritate other people around you in a silent environment. But unless you play really loud music and spend a lot of time in quiet places, it won’t be a problem.
The battery life of the Kinivo BTH240 is listed to be 10 hours of talk/play time and we cannot argue with that. In compression with other Bluetooth headsets, it’s excellent. If you listen to music and take phone calls, the battery will last from a few days to a couple of weeks without the need to recharge them.
The Kinivo BTH240 is fairly easy to connect to your phone. We were fond of how far we could go from our smartphone with disrupting the connection, so range is good. You’ll also find buttons on the headset to take calls and hang up once you’re done. Functions such as pausing and skipping music tracks also work well.
Conclusion Kinivo BTH240 Review
To conclude this review, the Kinivo BTH240 has earned its high popularity by a mixture of portability for an on-ear headset, great sound quality and a really low price tag. Although the build quality is average and it leaks some sound, you’ll not find any better Bluetooth on-ear headset within its price range. We most highly recommend it if you’re looking and for a superb and affordable on-ear Bluetooth headset.
