6 Best Bass Headphones Under $50 of 2022

Bass headphones come in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors and, of course, prices. Small fortunes can be spent on top of the range and brand name headphones but there is no real need to splash out big bucks if your requirements are fairly basic. Quality headphones need not cost an arm and a leg. Prices can start as low as just a few dollars and in this article we will look at some of the best bass headphones under $50.

To begin the search for a decent quality set of bass headphones there are a few points that should be borne in mind. The driver size is the most important consideration but there are also personal choices to be made when it comes to the type of headphones you want.

Important Considerations

  • Driver Size. For the best bass sound, a big sound driver is required. Small drivers result in tinny or poor quality sound and a 30 – 50mm driver is the minimum size for decent bass and sound reproduction. The bigger the driver, the better the sound.

The type of headphone you choose will depend on your personal tastes and preferences and comfort is also an important factor if the phones are to be worn for extended periods. Basically, there are three different types of bass headphones to choose from:

  • In-Ear. As the name suggests, the speakers sit inside the ear lobe or ear canal. Small and light, the sound is delivered right inside the ear but external noises can still intrude and the sound quality may not be the highest although there are always exceptions.
  • On-Ear. Padded speakers sit against the ears but do not enclose them fully. The sound quality is good and external background noise is minimal.
  • Over-Ear. Also known as Full-Size, Over-Ear headphones completely encase the ears and sit snugly against the sides of the head. Some might find them cumbersome but there is no denying that Over-Ear headphones deliver excellent sound quality with little or no outside noises filtering through to the ears.

3 Best Bass Headphones Under $50 Reviews

1. SONY Over Ear Portable Headset

Although the Sony MDR-ZX110 only has a 30mm sound driver the sound is far better than I expected and the bass quality rivals that of a much bigger driver. Apparently, this is due to Sony’s use of PET diaphragms but whatever the reason, it works and works very well.

Sometimes mistakenly described as On-Ear, the MDR-ZX110 is definitely an Over-Ear model and the headphones fit snugly but not too tightly over the ears. This excellent fit keeps outside noises and interference to an absolute minimum and the sound quality, both for bass and other tonal frequencies, rivals that of much more expensive headphones.

Comfortable to wear, lightweight but sturdy and delivering excellent sound quality, the Sony MDR-ZX110 easily tops my personal favorite list for the best bass headphones under $50.

2. Maxell AMP-B Amplified Headphone

Probably the best value you can get for your money is a set of Maxell AMP-B headphones. Large 40mm sound drivers deliver a superb rich bass sound but the other tonal frequencies are not drowned out and remain sharp and clear. The AMP-B phones seem to have been designed with lovers of bass in mind and Maxell get full marks for having achieved just that and at a very reasonable price.

The On-Ear headphones almost pass for Over-Ear as they are quite large and cover most of the ears cutting down on external noise sources. They are also extremely well padded, making them comfortable to wear for hours at a time. To top it all off, the AMP-B headphones are foldable and lightweight making it easy to take them anywhere and store them away safely. Fully compatible with CD, DVD and MP3 players and most portable devices, the Maxell Amplified Bass headphones are fully deserving of a place on any list of the best bass headphones under $50.

3. Bluedio T3 Bluetooth 4.1 Stereo Headphones

Sneaking in at just under $50, the Bluedio T3 is another quality set of bass headphones. The alloy frame is strong and very durable but still lightweight and memory foam padding means they are comfortable to wear. The sound quality is excellent and more than comparable to more expensive headphones.

The bass sound delivered from the large 57mm drivers is simply amazing. Sharp and clear with no rattle or buzz, the overall sound quality would put many of the far more expensive brands to shame. Not only is the bass quality excellent but the Bluedio T3 also delivers 3D sound which is great for listening to live music. The T3 also has a built-in microphone for those who make or receive calls on the move and, once again, the sound quality is top notch.
